win10 MS-Outlook & Fullscreen
win10 and newest version of MS-Outlook.

So, everyone knows that the f11 keyboard shortcut lets a Windows user toggle the active window to fullscreen and back.

But not in MS-Outlook. Some Microsoft genius on the Outlook programming team decided to program f11 key to NOT do something that the user does 20 times per hour and INSTEAD to do something that he MIGHT do 20 times per month or more likely 20 times per year (add a Contact to Favorites).

Pure genius, those Microsoft programmers!

As best I can determine, MS-Outlook does not have ANY native way to toggle to fullscreen and back out of it. Again, pure genius.

Have I missed something? Is there an existing MS-Outlook shortcut that I cannot find?

If not, does ANYONE know a way to customize a shortcut in Outlook to use the f11 key same same way that every other program in the Windows universe uses the f11 key?

Alternatively, does anyone know a way to program SOMETHING as a keyboard shortcut in MS-Outlook to toggle to fullscreen and back out of it?

My first thought was to find a way to completely REMOVE the native f11 shortcut from MS-Outlook (delete it from a list or something), with the hope that the native win10 usage of that key would resume. Alternatively, I thought it might allow me to then ADD a new MS-Outlook shortcut to toggle fullscreen.

But I have had no luck determining how to do any of that.

Any help?

I may be alone here, but I don't think I have ever purposely run a program in fullscreen mode. Anyway, check out AutoHotkey, make your keyboard do whatever you want.

I like to display a full workweek in Outlook Calendar and usually run it in the right half of a splitscreen on one of two monitors. But the writing just gets too small and compressed to be completely useful, so I change the size of the window to be wider than half, when I need to see more info. But grabbing the line between the two splitscreen halves is a hassle.

I wanted a quick (one keystroke) way to see the entire week at a (legible) glance and then toggle back down.

Honestly, either fullscreen or maximizing the Outlook window would serve my purpose equally-well.

I HAVE found a shortcut (just not a one-key one) to maximize the window. I had tried the old Win-UpArrow, but the advent of splitscreen changed that from "maximize" to "open the window in the top quarter of a screen" for four-window splitting.

I JUST figured out that pressing Win-UpArrow TWICE will FIRST toggle to top-quarter (first press) and THEN to maximized (second press). When dropping it back down again, you just have to be careful NOT to hit Win-DnArrow too many times, because it minimizes to the taskbar.

It isn't as good/easy as a simple one-key toggle, but it is better than nothing.

Look into AutoHotkey (linked in my previous post). It's the solution you are looking for.

I was really hoping there would exist a native solution in either Win10 or MS-Outlook.

One would think that 30 years experience with Microsoft would have taught me better than expecting anything sensible from them.

I will give it a look this evening. Thanks.
