I believe they said it weighed over 800lbs. Arkansas has a gator hunt but there are limited tags giving out.

With the pressure on the coast and most of the marsh I understand why an outlying area like this would have such a big gator. Southwest Arkansas around the Millwood backwaters has some areas where there are some extremely huge gators around because of the lack of pressure.

Funny you mentioned Millwood. My cousins fish down there a lot and they always talked about seeing big gators. I never believed them until I went with them one time. We were fishing and had one swim right up to the side of the boat. I told them I was done fishing lol.

I was working in the Millwood swamp around Okay about 10 years ago. The swamp was dry so I was walking down an old trail when an alligator (7-8 ft) tore off out of the briars right next to me. Wasn't any water for 200 yards but he hauled arse out of sight. After the initial jump I started laughing because he looked so awkward running through there. Dry land alligators are strange.
