Football has to do something about the kickoffs...
What's the point? Just put the ball at the 25 yard line and skip the commercial break.

XFL had a really good concept for kickoffs. Maybe they should adopt that

That’s what they did about kickoffs. This is what they wanted. Kickoffs were the most violent play which lead to the most injuries. They’ve taken them out on purpose.

It won’t get adopted because it came from the XFL unfortunately

Between kickoffs, targeting rules and no-contact practices, the league really has effectively ended serious concern about CTE. I really do view the sport as meaningfully less dangerous than even just 5-7 years ago. I say good job. It's way better than not having football.

It’s tradition. I’d rather have them even if it’s a touchback every time.

Yeah I know a lot of people are pissed because there’s less big hits, but the reality is limiting CTE is way more important. I agree that the game is definitely a whole lot safer these days, which while limiting big hits I think is better overall for the longevity of the sport.

agreed, i think i saw one return this weekend and the guy should have stayed in the end zone. just start it at the 25.

Curious about which scores more often: Kickoff Returns or game ending plays from their own 25?

They should move them up 5 more yards...if you make it through the uprights the team starts on the 15, if not...the 25.

When the NFL stops kickoffs, they won't stop having that commercial break. We will get at least a 30 second longer commercial break.

Will always be for kickoffs. Onsides kicks are rare but still give hope and excitement. I don't know why teams don't try to consistently kick high kicks that would land between the 1-~10 yard line. Chances of muffs or pinning your opponent to their endzone can change games.

Scoring team (or team starting the half) gets a 4th and 15 from their own 25.

You want the ball, you go for it.

You don't, punt it away.

I caught a game with Troy Aikman announcing and he said.

"Right after these commercials we will be back for the touchback."

I laughed.

The Network probably did not.
