Daily Fantasy Football double Ups - What am I missing?
So for the most part I've always focused on the tournaments with my friends and the ones that Noleman does here.

I recently startes playing the "double up" games. Over a 1,000 people and the top half doublea their money (after DraftKings takes their cut). And so far this has been way too easy.

You don't even need to find "gems." just a couple of dudes and the rest of the team straight chalk. I play $10-$20, where I feel like it's the regular people playing and not the higher stakes, which I guess are going to have more professionals.

So before I jump to the conclusion that this is "too easy," (famous last words)...has that been your experience too or am I just on a streak ? Just seems like there's a lot of people that throw a lineup without much thought to watch the games and it's easy to beat those out in the long run.

Sucks the process is taking so long in Louisiana but I'm hoping there's a lot of people from other states that can provide insight.

I beat the cash games for a few years. Last year was rough. Was on the wrong side of the lineup trains.

I think that’s your best way to consistently come out on top.

The risk reward better than the lottery ticket games over a season.

Well it's definitely easier, you typically need less points to cash. Plus it will artificially feel easier too, because there's not really any thought/regret given to leaving points on the board as long as you hit top 50%. Whereas if you have a good, not great, GPP lineup, you think about how you should have jammed in Derrick Henry to take your lineup from 165 points to 200 points (speaking from very recent experience, lol)

This definitely happens, but I wouldn't think it's any different than what happens in GPPs.

Ultimately I think game selection should depend on what you want to accomplish while playing. If you want to build a bankroll or slowly churn out profits with less risk, or you just enjoy playing DFS every week but don't really care how much you make doing it, cash games are great. And there are certainly no rules against playing both cash and tournaments!

The ideal way is to have 1-3 cash game lineups played across 3 man and double ups. Then have those in gpps with others. Most pros will have more money on their cash lineup then gpp.

Another tip is to play Thur thru Mon slates and fade the Thursday game. Most will put more guys playing Thursday in their lineup so fading is a leg up on them.

my plan is to have the 50/50 winnings fund my tournaments fees.

You obviously will have a higher hit rate with double ups. I used to play a $100 double up every sunday. Then one day I put up around 235 points and realized I could've won $150k instead of $200 if I'd just entered that lineup into a $100 cash game. The degenerate in me can't handle doing that again. I've finished top 10 in several double up games with more than 1,000 people and it makes me more sick than happy.

I'm not saying not to do tournaments.
It just seems to me like the double ups are too easy, so why not take the consistent cash flow? Just wanted to confirm it's actually the case and not just a hot streak. Obviously not going to hit the jackpot doing that, but why not use to fund your tourneys?

Now the $100 double ups, I would suspect the hit rate on those is lower as you start to lose regular Joe's at that entry point and have more pros.

No DFS sport as popular as NFL is "too easy" lol. You are playing some morons, sure, but you're also playing against a lot of smart people AND a 10-16% rake.

It's pretty much statistically impossible for your cash flow to be "consistent" given how infrequently NFL slates occur. If your true talent gets you a winning lineup 60% of the time, ~80% of the time you won't be winning even 3 main slates in a row.

Here I'm talking specifically low fees ($5-$20) double ups. Getting top 40% (to account for the rake) more than 50% of the time does not seem like a hard proposition from what I've seen.
But maybe I'm overestimating the "morons" to pros ratio in those type of games.
But like I said, maybe it's just a streak, which is why I started this thread.
I play 3-5 of those a week, so I'll track the results throughout the year and see. Won't be a big enough sample size (50-60 games) to make definitive statements, but it'll be data nonetheless.

Can you start playing on DraftKings mid season?

Yeah. They don't have year long draft leagues.

They do have year long weekly draft leagues.

“The highest-volume players are ineligible to enter contests with entry fees less than $3, as well as contests with entry fees between $3 and $5 if the prize pool is less than $25,000 guaranteed.”

Above is the DK guidance on what games pros are able to play in. Pros will definitely be in the games you're referencing between $5 to $20.

Smart- lots of people will play and play and play with no real idea how well they're doing.

re: Daily Fantasy Football double Ups - What am I missing?
Look at this MNF double up I played. I was 1110th out of 1149 .
And the remaining 39 people probably forgot to set their lineups

Overall though, another great weekend in double ups (5/7). But the max I'm playing is $20, and I only played one of those. So money wise, not that much accumulation. But I keep placing in these double ups.

I got a free entry to best ball and it’s kind of dumb. I didn’t have an active tight end on my roster last week because of injuries and byes.
