Welcome Back to Another Installment of the world famous Coaching Changes Board...
Posted by Chicken

where we will track the numerous coaching vacancies that will surface over the next several weeks.
This board will be used for analyzing candidates, tracking flights, and keeping you posted on the latest news on the coaching carousel.
This will be our 16th installment of the world famous Coaching Changes Board. This board was born back in November of 2007, when a crap load of schools were looking for new coaches, including Michigan and Nebraska. belowpar was the star of the board, telling us that Miles was staying when everyone (including Herbstreit) was telling us otherwise.
It laid dormant for 11 months in 2008, until the debacle known as Malveto forced Miles to undergo a search for a new DC and other defensive coaching positions.
It came back in November of 2009 when the prevailing thought was that Gary Crowton would be replaced, but that never happened.
In 2010, Michigan was again looking for a replacement, and Les Miles was again a potential candidate. Other big schools making changes included Florida, Stanford and Miami.
The year 2011 saw Joe Paterno get canned, Urban Meyer's heart healed enough for him to coach again, and A&M hired Sumlin.
The 2012 season saw Oregon, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and a host of other BCS schools hire new coaches.
For the 2013 season, USC and Texas had openings, while 2014 saw Jim Harbaugh jump to Michigan and LSU replace its DC.
The 2015 season sees many high profile openings, including USC, South Carolina, Miami, Virginia Tech and a slew of other teams.
Also, the 2015 season saw us nearly lose Les Miles in November, only to have the LSU president nix the plan. It was rumored that Jimbo was a done deal at the time.
The 2016 season saw Les Miles fired in September and Tom Herman flirt with LSU before taking the Texas job...leaving O to take the LSU job full time. It also saw Matt Canada emerge as the new OC at LSU after Lane Kiffin took the head coaching at Florida Atlantic.
The 2017 Coaching Changes Board saw LSU replace Matt Canada, Tennessee's spectacularly bad search to replace Butch Jones, and a host of other big name schools replace their head coach, including Florida, Texas A&M, Florida State, Oregon, UCLA, Nebraska, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Miss State.
The 2018 edition did not include the drama of previous years but did see the return of Les Miles (Kansas) and Mack Brown (North Carolina), and Dana Holgerson leaving West Virginia to coach Houston.
In 2019, LSU had to replace Dave Aranda (with Bo Pelini) and many Power 5 schools brought in new head coaches, including Ole Miss (Kiffin) and Miss State (Leach).
In 2020, Texas, Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina and Vanderbilt were among the schools hiring new head coaches. Even Bert got in on the action, landing the head job at Illinois. LSU hired coordinators on both sides of the ball after Pelini was ousted and Ensminger retired.
The 2021 installment was amazing...various sauces had Riley, Jimbo, Kiffin, Tucker and BoB coming to LSU to replace O. No one really knew which white whale Woodward would harpoon...in the end, it was Brian Kelly...In addition to LSU, 30 schools hired new head coaches, including Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma, Florida, Oregon and Miami. It was truly a coaching changes season to remember.
As a result, the Coaching Changes Board was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
Sit back, buckle up and grab your popcorn...you never know what is in store for the Coaching Changes Board!
We have locked all of the old threads to preserve them for years to come. We hope you enjoy your time on the board.

I want to say after Woodward's comments about this and Riley that these threads are just going to be for fun.
Has any flight tracker thread actually paid off? Honest question.
