Joe Namath Shares What Legendary Alabama Coach Bear Bryant Told Him About Losing
by Larry LeoNovember 29, 2020

© Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports
Alabama and New York Jets legend, Joe Namath, was ESPN’s College GameDay guest picker prior to Saturday's Iron Bowl. That's where he shared this quote from former Crimson Tide coaching legend Bear Bryant...
quote:(The Spun)
“As you know, it starts up front,” Namath said, via 247Sports. “I think our offensive line at Alabama is doing a wonderful job. I love our defense. When I hear someone say Auburn beat Alabama, the first thing I learned at Alabama from coach Paul “Bear” Bryant: we don’t get beat. We might lose, but nobody beats us. We go out there and fight. Bama’s going to be ready today and we’re going to win the game.”

Clemson did the last time Alabama played them. They beat Alabama. Period.

"We might lose, but nobody beats us"
That's a crock of s#!t. Scoreboard. If your score is lower, the other team beat you. You didn't "allow them to win", or any of that other bulls#!t. They. Beat. You. You can fight like a mad dog and still get your rear whipped. It happens.

Yep, if your opponent scores more points than you did you got your arse beat. Plain and simple. Funny how these Alabama Elephant Fans always have a different direction on a loss?

I thought it was going to be Bear’s famous quote: “pu**y is undefeated.”.

All these posters chirping in here wish they possessed 1/10th the amount of cool Broadway Joe has.

Not really. Again they lost a hell of a lot, but Bama doesn’t get beat down in the same manner that, say, Auburn and LSU get beat down often.

They were 74-61 from 97-07. They don't get beat like that now, but they got beat like a drum plenty. I had no real hatred towards Bama because they were simply not a threat then.
